SECURING YOUR SAFE

How often have you seen a movie where the thieves break in to a bank and successfully break in to a safe—or better yet, steal the safe by blowing up the bank and escaping with both the safe and money in one shot? Well, that’s Hollywood. Owning a medical marijuana business may seem like a Hollywood movie, but securing your safe and making sure it’s a good one will slow down any thief, hopefully preventing them from pulling off a Hollywood caper.

You should attach the safe directly to the floor joists. You must first remove the flooring and sub floor to have access to the floor joists.

If your space is on a slab, set the safe in six inches of concrete. We suggest you do this yourself and not have the assistance of any outside help. This will eliminate anyone from knowing how secure the safe is and how difficult it would be if they should decide to rob your marijuana business. Placing a rug and or flooring over the concrete will make it look like the safe is part of the room and is simply a piece of furniture.

If you are constructing a new building, you can encase the safe directly in the concrete foundation.
